1st Clevedon Scouts Christmas Post 2017

Posted on November 26th, 2017 by Mike_Provis

1st Clevedon Scout Group runs a local Christmas Card postal service for Clevedon residents each year. The money raised from this event is often in excess of £1000, which  helps to  keep the Scout Group running and to maintain the various activities we offer all our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

Many businesses in Clevedon support us each year by selling our Scout Christmas Stamps and having one of our Scout Christmas Post Boxes in their shop. Throughout December the Scout Group collects, sorts and delivers Christmas Cards, and this is where we need to ask you and your children for help and support.

For this fundraiser to be a success this year we need help in the following way

CHRISTMAS POST BOXES AT LOCAL RETAILERS

Christmas Post Boxes and Stamps are being delivered to the retailers that support our service. There are approximately 20 venues across Clevedon, details of which can be seen in the following images and will be posted on our facebook page soon:

HELP TO COLLECT THE POST FROM THE RETAILERS

We would be grateful for volunteers to collect the Christmas Cards from the retailers and drop them to either the Scout Hall or a member of the Christmas Post Team. The following dates are the collection dates:

  • Monday 4th December & Monday 11th December
  • Friday 8th December & Friday 15th December

HELP SORT THE POST

The upstairs meeting room becomes our sorting office from the beginning of December. Here the Christmas Cards are franked and then sorted into their delivery round. This years sorting dates are:

  • Tuesday 5th and Wednesday 6th – Scout Hut and post sorting room open from 6pm
  • Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th – Scout Hut and post sorting room open from 6.30pm
  • Saturday 9th and Saturday 16th – from 9.30 am

SIGN UP TO A DELIVERY ROUND AND HELP DELIVER THE POST

A board will be placed in the entrance hall on Monday 27th November, where you or your son/daughter can sign up to a Christmas Card delivery round. The Christmas Cards will be sorted into the delivery rounds and available for you to collect from the sorting room on most nights that there is a Beaver, Cub or Scout Meeting taking place.

How do I sign up to help out? – Members of our Christmas post team will be available to answer questions and take your details at the Scout Hall when meetings are being held during the week beginning Monday 27th November.

Please help us to make this another successful year for the group and offer a great service to the people of Clevedon that support us.

Thank you from your Beaver, Cub & Scout Leaders

At 2:30pm on Sunday 12th November 2017 1st Clevedon Beavers, Cubs, Scouts & Explorers took part in the Clevedon Remembrance parade, organised by the Royal British Legion. We marched in full uniform with 2nd Clevedon Scouts, Guides/Brownies and many other groups including war veterans.

The march to St Andrews Church was brilliantly led by The City Of Bristol Pipe and drums band.

All of the Explorers, Scouts, Cubs and Beavers looked very smart in full uniform, marched brilliantly and were impeccably behaved on the day – a credit to the group!

Sainsbury’s Active Kids Vouchers

Posted on February 1st, 2016 by Mike_Provis

1st Clevedon Scouts are collecting Sainsbury’s Active Kids vouchers in 2016 so please save them and drop them off at the Scout hut whenever you can.

The earlier a child learns to eat well and keep active, the more likely they are to live well too. That’s why your support for Active Kids can make such a difference to children’s futures. So collect as many vouchers as you can to help us to get our hands on some exciting new sports and cooking equipment and experiences for our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

It’s easy to collect vouchers for Active Kids 2016. Simply shop in Sainsbury’s stores and online at sainsburys.co.uk and you will earn Active Kids vouchers on your shopping.

In Sainsbury’s Locals, you will get one voucher for every £5 you spend. You’ll notice these vouchers are larger than the ones you receive in Sainsbury’s supermarkets and have a photograph on them.

In Sainsbury’s Supermarkets you’ll receive 1 voucher for every £10 you spend. So if you spend £40 you’ll get four vouchers, but what’s new is that they’ll all be printed on one piece of paper. These vouchers are white and smaller in size, with no photograph on them.

Once you’ve collected your vouchers, bring them in to the Scout hut and deposit them in the box in the hallway.

If you’d like to see what great equipment and activities we could order, take a look at this year’s catalogue.

Christmas Scout Post 2015

Posted on January 24th, 2016 by Mike_Provis

The 2015 scout Christmas post was a huge success thanks to a combination of busy scout members, willing volunteers and of course the festive paying public.

Temporary racking was setup in the scout hut to help sort out all of the post into defined postal rounds. Busy volunteers beavered away at sorting out all of the collected letters with our special Christmas stamp, ready for yet more willing volunteers to pick up and deliver around Clevedon.

A total of £XXX was raised which will go towards the new kitchen which is being installed early 2016.

Our deepest gratitude and a huge pat on the back to everyone involved – hope to see you again next year.

The build up to the event was covered by the local paper/website North Somerset Times – take a look here
